Hi Boby, does your boat have a Genset? If so no worries, go with a six gallon tank. Our boat came equipped with a six gallon hot water heater and a Genset. We've done many extended (two month plus) cruises and the six gallon has always been adequate. Then again if you have crew unaccustomed to taking navy style showers, then go with the 12 gallon.

Hmmm. We have a 6 gallon water heater in our travel trailer and it runs out quickly. And that is taking a Navy shower. The 12 gallon on the boat seems to last much longer...much more than twice as long. I'm guessing 12 gallons of hot water would stay hotter longer than 6 gallons with no additional power supplied. If you have the room go for the bigger one.

I installed a water tempering device a couple years ago. Just about always a weekend crew of 4, we have hotter water on Sunday morning than before tempering. 40 bucks, cheap heat.

Two careful people can shower with a six gallon water heater equipped with a mixing valve. Remember that as you consume hot water cold water is filling your water heater. Never tried for three showers with the six gallon tank, so cannot say for certain if it would work for three. For three people I would go for the twelve gallon model just to be sure.
