I would like to increase the mechanial advantage on the daggerboard lift due to difficulty in raising it while underway. I would add a fourth block to the system, but have questions about how to mount it. Has anyone experience with making this improvement? Please share results if so. Thanks. Bill

It probably is going to be difficult to move while you are moving because of the force of the water on the board. You might only be able to adjust it while you are turned into the wind or running down wind. No practical experience, just a knowledge of physics and intuition. How is it when the boat isn't moving?

Lifting the 450 pound board is difficult either way. I disassembled the system this week, serviced the blocks and added a fourth sheave to the system (because the lower block had space for it and the upper blocks, those visible on deck, actually has a welded schakle on the underside to receive the rope end). It is not a huge improvement, but helps some. When the boat is in the water and I'm headed into a spinnacker run I'll find out whether the effeort was worth it. Thanks for the enginering input. Bill
