I have a H410 with shore power electrical inlet for general AC (battery charger, hot water, refrigeration etc.) and a second inlet for the dual HVAC, both using 30 amp cord. My dock is equiped with two 50 amp outlets. My question is do I need to plug in both to thier individual outlet using 50amp male to 30 amp female adapter, or can I just purchase a 50amp Y connector to two 30 amp females having both share one 50amp outlet?

Its a Breaker Isue
If you just use one 50 amp input then you can exceed the rating of the one 50 amp breaker and trip it. If you divide your input into two cords then you will have two separate 50 amp breakers and they will only be tripped if there is a short.

Change Breakers ?
BCUSTER, If you are using the same slip for the season perhaps changing the shore power breakers to 30 amp is a solution. If a problem occurs aboard and the boats breakers don't pop for some reason the shore power breakers provide a backup. Electrically isn't it a no no to hook up to a higher amp than the boat is wired for? Your insurance agent is rubbing his hands together right now! Jeff

My boat came with 2 30 amp outlets, one for air conditioning and the other for battery charger, hot water and AC outlets. I used a clamp on ampmeeter and measured the current. Air conditioning draws about 14 amps (12000 BTU) and battery charger only a few amps. Did not measure hot water since I use it seldom. Usually when docked we use shore side showers. I paralleled the two outlets so I only need one 30 amp cord. Have not had any problems with this setup.

Y to one 50 is the way to go
I had a gin palace with dual AC, Microwave, multiple TVs etc. etc. and dual 30A supply. Only once did I get to stay in a slip with more than one 30A outlet. I used a 30A Y connector (with a 50A adapter for that one time) without any problems. Using just the one 50A outlet is definately the safer option.
