I'm settled in to either a 49 or a 50cc. I will be living on this boat and from time to time when making long passages plan to hire a husband/wife team to help. On a rare occassion I might invite others on the boat for a week or more...or may not as the case may be. I love the 50cc and see there is a 3 cabin option..but those cabins on paper look real tiny and possibly uncomfortable. The 49 comes as a 3 cabin standard and look more comfortable. However, as the best laid plans of mice...etc..it may be that none of those things accure and the space wasted for the other 2 cabins. In which case the more ideal arragement would be the standard 50cc.

Anyone here seen the 3 cabin option of the 50cc in person? Do they appear comfortable? Or maybe I should just get a 49? Then again maybe just a standard 50cc and firgure that the times I might have guests I wont have a crew?

This is really a question for those of you that have seen the boats up close and those that have looked into and then lived with variations of the situations I am looking at.

Are the two smaller cabins the same size? I chartered a 3-cabin H46 once. The starboard aft cabin was suitable for a couple. The port cabin was smaller and where my eventual wife slept(me in the salon the other two couples thought). I liked that arrangement because for two couple cruising that port cabin would be a great storage place.

yes..the 2 smaller cabins replacing the 1 large cabin on the 50cc appear to be identical in size..and I would be looking at any unused cabin as an additional storage locker when not used as a cabin...so...its not a problem to use the salon berths or extended stays?
The catilina 470 offers a layout of 3 inentical cabins...each with its own head. I wonder if Hunter allows modifications for such in their production boats? To split the rear cabin into 2 cabins...each with its own head would be perfect in the 50cc.

I would say if you are going to live aboard, the CC has the better accomodations (it is a Square room), walk up to the bed, walking closet and the option of that jacuzzi. Depending on what you will use two extra cabins for(storage, Office, or more guests), I would probably just get the single berth on the bow for guest.

I believe the 49 master berth is smaller..

Good Choice, good luck!!!!
