450 Owners - Radar Mount Question

Did any one install a radar antenna on a pole ? If so, can you tell me were and how (specifically) you mounted the pole.

Yes I have seen one

There was one done in San Diego, very expensive. It was mounted portside, aft, right by the steps down the transome, thru the deck, thru the bookcase/shelf, thru the shelf in the lockers, secoured to the hull. You don't have any margin for error, the stock was stainless, don't know the thickness but at least 3". Very, very expensive. I chose to mount my radar on the mast!

Go for the Mast

We looked very hard at mounting our radar on a pole. After spending a considerable amount of money trting to desing something that was both functional and looked half good, we decided that on the mast was the only way to go!
