can someone give me a quick rundown on what steps to unpickle my engine? it took on water and was immediately pickled, the marina ran it for 6 hours continuos, then pickled it again. now its been sitting about 2 years. what do you think i need to worry about? my new boatyard says its a tough engine and should be ok. but i want to do as much as possible myself. do i just turn the key (water hooked up) and try to fire her up? filters were installed new when pickled, should I change them though?

thanks

there was instructions on this board a few years ago, you can do a search. but as i recall it required hand turning the engine first with the compression released. also i believe that they injected marvel mystery oil in the cylinders. good luck

what do you mean by "pickled"
Well, good question. I assumed that it meant the cylinders are filled with oil which forces water out, and stops rusting? I didnt exactly get a detailed description from the marina. The owner told me what I wrote earlier.
