The 424 & 422 are identical...

...and I believe the 419 was the first of the models to use that mold but with a very different, really horrid looking deck mold. (Sorry, I don't usually slam other designs...but this one was pretty extraordinary!) The 419 is not the Rhodes 41 built by Pearson. Dennis, are you the person for whom I answered this same question on Sailnet. If so, you may be seeking confirmation from another source...in which case, sorry to butt in. Jack

Whoosh, yeah, it's me. I'm sorry, I don,t mean to disagree with you again but There is a 422 at my marina and I really like the looks of the boat. In fact her being a center cockpit, having good looks and having this type of underbody, she became one of my favorites. One day I saw the boat on the hard and she had a long deep fin (I think it was encapsulated)and a skeg rudder. This is nothing like the 424,s underbody. Since now the boat is at a different yard somewhere, I,m unable to view her again to find out for sure. During the off season,I spend much of my time viewing the underbodys of sailboats and this one I,m pretty sure of but it's been three or four years since I saw this boat on the hard and I could be wrong,so, I'm just trying to Rest my mind. I'm not that keen on the underbody of the 424,so,I do want to find out for sure. Dennis

As a 422 owner...

... let me say (1) it's just a fantastic boat, and (2) as far as I know the underbodies of the 422 and the 424 are identical. Take a look at the site http://www.pearson422.com/ You can see some photos of the underbody on my website: http://lewiston.mit.edu/destiny It's not a deep keel, the draft is only 5' 3". Only 39 422's were made, so they are a lot rarer than the 424. Let me if I can be of further help, Derek Pearson 422, Destiny
