I'm trying to identify the source of a leak in my boat and suspect it may be coming from the fixed portlights in the 423. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I have a 2005 Beneteau 423 and chased the intermittant amount of salt water in the bilge for months. It turned out to be coming from the stern swim platform where the latch hole that holds the wet locker lid closed had been over drilled. This meant that any water sloshing up the rear worked its way into the boat. Not sure if this is your source but it took me a long time to find it!RegardsCharles MurcottSY All the ColoursFremantle Aust
Thanks for the info. The source of the leak has since been confirmed to be coming from the fixed skylights above the salon. Looks like a major piece of work!
I have had and have read from others that all the skylights eventually leak. It is the caulking that fails. fix is simple. remove the old caulk, replace with new. B says there is a special caulk for this so contact them for specs. But then you'll play hell finding it. ask them to supply it instead.
