hello all. Cleaning and found the anchor locker full of mud and water... empties the chain and rode and water/ mud came up to port side drain. Is there another drain that will empty the locker?? Could not see any additional holes outside and mud water filled inside. didn't want to jump in just yet....
Thanks
Greg

The original drain is within 3 inches or so of the bottom of the locker. I have a second drain at 12 inches up on the opposite side of the bow. Having a deck wash system at the bow allows you to wash the clean the chain and keep much of that mud out of the locker.

Yea...... seems the p/o just liked to pull it in quickly without the wash down. Oh well... was looking forward to going down the well anyway!!

At the end of a cruise when I use the anchor, I always soak the rode to make sure the water drains out clean . I read about a drain that blocked up, and the water backed up until it found passage into the cabin area. SO, On my next haulout, I placed a second drain on the opposite side a couple of inches higher than the first. Just in case. I got the second drain at the local B dealer, AYS.

Yes you want that locker draining REAL skippy. One of the features of that Beneteau is a huge anchor locker you can crawl into and it is open to the sea up front. I regularly see green water flooding into that cavern when the going gets rough and the last thing I want is 200 gallons (1600lbs) of weight in there in addition to my chain.

So right...... one small hole just won't drain in heavey seas.

So searched all my photos prior to boat being wrapped..... there is another drain on starboard side at bottom of locker. Guess the plastic and mud is blocking. Hate shrink wrap!
Thanks all

I was just out in some moderate weather yesterday, and while at the bow checking things, saw a decent amount of water coming and going in and out of the locker. When I got to port, I see the cover/clamshell over the hole is gone. I'm searching for a replacement, which is proving hard to find where I am right now, but reading some of the other posts on the size of the hole, maybe it is not as big of an issue as I thought since the water seems to drain out very fast...

Yeah I am pretty remote, and moving every day, so I am hoping to find one along the way. However, it seems like maybe it isn't the end of the world if it is open since folks seem to complain that they don't drain well?

I was missing the port side plastic and replace it with this. Like others my locker has one higher on the starboard side so I replaced that one too. It looks better than the plastic ones.
