I'll caulk the 795 round the outside and inside, but essentially most of my mechanical bond will come from the 795

Am I right in presuming that the 3M tape goes near the inside edge of the window as seen from the inside. You will just see the edge of the tape when viewed from inside the cabin ?

Also, not clear on how you will force the 795 down the edge of the acrylic (3/8') and under to give the large adhesion surface for the 795. This stuff is pretty viscous to be forced all the way under for your distance of (1-1/8 - 3/8) = 3/4". If the 795 would flow freely under the glass, this would be the desired method of installation.

On the other hand I have a problem in applying the 795 to either the window or flange (while open) and forcing it OVER the top of the 3M tape and contaminating it. It will not be the tape that is sticking at that point.

I agree that you MUST have a stand off for the window from the flange but not yet comfortable with 795 going all over the place and contaminating the tape adhesion before installation.

Basically, yes. The tape will split the difference and there should only be 3/8" on either side of the tape. Some areas of the window, because of the design and window pattern (inconsistent factory cut outs of the cabin), there won't be a 1 1/8" flange... in some areas around the corners it goes below 1 inch. The thickness of the tape is somewhere between .015 and .025, I have to check... but that provides a great standoff distance that won't get squeezed. Unlike the video example you posted, my windows are surface mounted, no recess to deal with. The viscosity of the 795 should be just right for cutting a narrow and shallow angle off the tip and pumping into the gap... or at least that is my theory.

The usual disposition of an unfinished tube of 5200 is to

1. Cap it so it stays airtight and store it in a cool dry place
2. Stick a machine screw down the nozzle and wrap tape over the end
3. Leave it where you last used it and expect to throw it away next week after the remaining half has cured in the tube
