Mike, our local marina shop recommends...

5200 below the waterline and 4200 above. Terry

5200 vs 4200

Use 5200 for permanent mountings, 4200 if you'll ever need to get it apart. Both are made to be used above or below the waterline. Never use silicone below the waterline.

5200/4200

I agree with Ellis...5200 if you never ever want to separate what you are putting together...4200 if, at sometime in the future, the two pieces might need to come apart. Both work equally well above or below the waterline.

Basic premise answers the question

Mike You wrote: "ready to mount new transducers thru the hull" Since 5200 is about as permanent as you can get, and since you are mounting NEW transducers, what makes you think someone in the future won't have to replace THOSE? Why is this a question at all? If it EVER has to be removed, 5200 is the WRONG material to even consider. Stu

Nothings permanent

Haven't heard of Antibond 2015 yet? Buy it at WM and other marine stores for removing polyurethane sealers.

Thru hull fitting not permanent?

I would think that a thru hull fitting is about as permanent as you're going to get. Are you putting a new hole thru the bottom of your boat and you're concerned that it's not permanent or are you replacing a thru hull fitting that was already in and why? I might be inclined to use 5200 if it's recommended for use below the water line.
