I have a hunter 410 and would like to add a bow thruster / hunter said they had not done this or offered this / no help / has anyone with a 410 added a bow thruster???? if so at what distance back from the front. and did you have to raise the floor??? I looked at it and it looked like maybe just aft of the door to the fronthead door / and raise the floor in this area 4" to 6". Help do I need to get a bigger boat?

Where are all the 410's with Bow Thrusters?

Help Tom with some information on the 410 with a Bow Thruster! Surely someone out there has one!

Well,

I've got an '01 420... 410's and 420's have the same hull... I don't have a bow thruster either and I don't think Hunter offered them as an option for this hull. Not sure if it would be practical to install one into this hull. Best suggestion; call Hunter; they can give you answers and their recommendations. Let us know what you find out.

Do you have a particular issue that you think requires a bow thruster? If so can you explain?

bow thruster

We have a 2000, 420 and as Buck said it is the same hull as the 410. I belive the same hull was used until the end of the models in the last couple of years. We haven't done it, but I know several people that have retofited their 420 with thrusters. Its a $ 10,000 dollar expense that can be put to better use. In the 420's case an access is created under the foward head and it is installed there.

Tom the 410 with a forward head , you cannot put in a bow thruster it will not fit, if it had a forward berth it is possible. ken

back and fill

raising the sole won't help because you still won't have the thruster tube completely submerged. On a 410 you'd have to move the tube so far aft that it would be prohibitively expensive. I had a 410 for eight years and put over 10,000 nm on the hull; I can't think of any situation during that time where I felt the need for a thruster. You might be better off paying some old tug captain a hundred bucks to teach you "gear and steer" theory and how to back and fill. Once you learn those maneuvers, you'll discover that the 410 parks like a volkswagen.

Hi Tom, all sage advice on this thread...

I've learned how to handle our boat by paying attention to wind and current then adjusting boat maneuvers accordingly. Once you learn I think you will find your boat surprisingly easy to move around without a thruster. Terry
