40.5 Tanks

Any experience on water and waste tanks on the 40.5? I am considering purchase of one and on my current Hunter, I had to replace all the aluminum tanks. I am assuming they are aluminum on a '94, but don't really know. Nothing in the archives. So??? Any response appreciated. RD

Tanks? You're Welcome...

I have a 1997 model, last one out of the factory. The aft water tank is a poly-type tank and I don't know what the other 3 water tanks are made of. The waste tank is under the cabin sole next to the nav station and it appears to be stainless steel. I would expect that the factory could look into their build documentation for that hull number or at least the year and tell you for sure.

Rick, i have a '93 40.5, waste is alum., (remove the nav. seat cushion & insp.panel and see the edge of the waste tank). Water is poly. (remove the large aft interior bulkhead inspection panel and see the aft water tank to starboard). good luck, Jim Vincent, Toucan

Water tanks

We own a 93 model, hull #35. Water tanks are plastic, not aluminum. The 20-gallon ballast tanks are all but useless -- too much plastic sludge accumulates -- left over from manufacturing. We keep them filled but shut off.
