I have looked through the archives and can't find out how long before I can paint over 3M 5200. It says it will tack up in 24 to 48 hrs and totally cure in 7 days. I used it on my keel joint and need to paint it before it goes in this weekend. Any thoughts? Thanks everyone. Sorry about the newby questions.

Paint it just before you go in...

Just give your paint long enough to dry. I believe the 5200 needs exposure to the air to cure, otherwise it would harden in the tube. I would get to the yard early on launch day and paint it over 2-4 hours ahead of splash time. You didn't say what type of paint you are using but ablative dries pretty fast. 2-4 hours should be more than enough. Andy
