I recently had my standing rigging inspected by a local shop here. There conclusion was that it is in "serviceable" condition...privately the rigger estimated the age as 10 yrs or so.....in good condition.
When asking him if there was too much bend in my furling selden mast....he replied......don't know.....??
Also said he was not a fan of the BR rig...
My question to you all is this.........from my reading of the specs....selden calls for NO bend in a furling mast.......I have about 4" or so.
Can the rigging be adjusted in place without dropping the mast?
I think this is the biggest contributor to making the mainsail hard to furl in and out.......original sail probably doesn't help either.
I plan on taking the main off this winter and servicing the furler mechanism. I really hate to take it to the yard and having someone not familiar with this rigging to charge me 250.00 for an inspection and do nothing to resolve the problem or offer suggestions.
Anything else come to mind............Thanks
