IN regards to the 380 Catalina in Pensacola that sank.I just had my first look at the boat and from what I can tell the water was only an inch or 2 above the flooring. She has been repaired by a reputable yard and they showed me all the invoices. The word that I got from the yard was that she sank in the slip from a faulty thru hull, it was low tide when it down and was raised within an hour. I informed the brokerage of these posts and they assured me that Gene was called the mornig they found the boat sunk. I had a very good expirience with Flagship AYchts and would feel comfortable doing business with them, that being said I feel the boat is still over priced.

I thought I heard the batteries were awash. Now what is it? Also from all the other listings $119k for a C380 is exceptionally cheap. I don't see most C380's under that price most are about $150k Are you a "hack" from Flagship yachts ? I have never seen you post on Sailboatowners.com before

The batteries are located in the sole just forward of the campanionway. I was told that they were under water. No I am just looking for a cheap boat!

Next question is What other wiring is under the cabin sole on a C380? I am not sure where the engine is, but I suspect that it wasn't underwater though. After inspection I bet a good mechanic could tell you if there was any issues with the engine If its really true that its just 2 inches of water then maybe this boat isn't that bad of a deal and not a big problem. It all depends. I am assuming that being only 2 inches none of the fabric or the cushions got wet so that is also another important issue. Also 2 inches wouldn't effect anything electronic or instruments A Bilge is a Bilge is a Bilge. Water down there shouldn't be a problem. Too long and it starts to delaminate wood and seep into crevices and wiring though. To be safe I would replace any wiring connections that were under that water area. If its just 2 inches above floor boards and if its less than a few hours of water inside the boat, then I would low ball the offer ($90k?) To be honest if all the water damage was just superficial and temporary, then this boat sounds like a steal for under $100k

I mean all systems are 100%. The price is not too bad. I would think that you are looking at somewhere around 105 to walk awak with a 140 boat. I like the dark hull and that is expensive. The equipment package is nice too. You might want to see if the engine passes a compression test and get the oil check for water. If you do get her pull the floor board and let the dry out. I would protect the bottom with some kind of water barrier. Old Salt might be right about offering 90 and letting them counter offer. She is a pretty boat. I know Catalina uses cover bigle pump switches and they don't aways work well. I would think the bigle pump should have keep up with the water is the boat was plugged it. You have to ask yourself, why doesn't the owner want it anymore? You should be ready for problems down the line!

you know the rest! You just keep on talking your self into buying a problem boat. Will an insurance company even provide coverage? Do you expect these people at flag ship to be there for you after they get their commission? Maybe for under $55K but not at that price.
