Has anyone installed A/C in their 380? Which manufacturer did you select and why? What size unit did you install? Did you run discharge vents to all three cabins? Where did you put the unit? Did you do the install yourself? Any gotcha's during the install?

380 A/C

Factory installed. Vents into all three cabins. Returns in all three cabins. One stbd under seats. One aft mid section under bed. Estimates: Size forward 12,000BTU aft 8,000BTU. Suggest call Catalina in Florida for the brand. All have digital controls

380 A/C

Our A/C was dealer installed. We have a 16kbtu under the setee against the forward bulkhead that does the v-berth and salon and a 6kbtu unit mounted in the starboard lazarette that does the aft cabin. They are MarineAire reverse cycle units with digital controls and work GREAT. Both get cooling water from a single pump in the bilge. Each has a separate discharge. Merimaid Units

We have 2 Merimaid units, main cabin is 16,000; Forward v-berth is a/c only around 5,000. Installed ourselves. Much like Don S. did himself on his 38 which he sold and which is just up the dock from us! We enjoy the heat in the winter equally as much as we enjoy the cool in the summer. Couldn't do without them.
