376 Leaks

My 376 has a leak in the main cabin centerline light fixtures. I have worked to find the source unsuccessfully for over 2 years. A mormal washing does not result in water entering the cabin but a all day rain will cause the leak. Anyone out there that has had the same problem and fixed it?

Same Leak

Gail I have the same leak on my 376, and also no luck in finding source. My next attempt was to take off the line oganiser panel, and the surround of the solar panel and then epoxy all the screw holes and then refix the panels. I can't see that there are any other points of entry over the lights. The water would have to travel uphill if it were entering at the mast step. So please anyone know the correct fix for this problem? If there are two boats leaking at the same point I expect there are others. Tony Wilcox

Me Too !

Same problem with ours...and have not been able to trace it yet. I was going to pull the panels like Tony did but obviously that did not fix it either.

Pressure test for leaks

I can't remember where I read this: Close all hatches, ports and ventilators. Seal off the companionway with plastic and duct tape. Attach a leaf blower through the companionway plastic. Turn it on to pressurize the cabin. Spray water all over your deck -- soapy water works best. Look for air bubbles at every screw/bolt hole, fitting and gasket. This should find EVERY leak on your boat. (Oh, by the way, be sure to secure the loose stuff down below -- those leaf blowers are pretty powerful!)

Me Too, Maybe

Gail, and all: I have a persistent leak that manifests itself on the starboard side just opposite the center lights. It comes in over the stationary port in back of the setee, and runs down the side of the boat onto the bookshelves by following the headliner. I wonder if these are the same leaks, but just traveling different paths ? I THINK I tracked mine down to the starboard overhead opening hatch, and I will rebed the hatch in the spring. When I used a hose to direct water flow to only specific areas of the topsides, the hatch seemed to be the culprit. Keep in mind that this is not a lot of water, but certainly enough to annoy me, and, most likely, it will do some damage over time......... Jeff

Water leak

I had to deal with a mast step leak where the rain water would leak from the sealant around the VHF coax cable where it entered the boat. It would leak (about a 1/2 cup) only after a hard rain. I also noticed that the centerline cabin lights had moisture in them but assumed it was from the mast step leak because after I finally got the leak stopped I haven't noticed any condensation in the lights. Hope that helps your search!

Same Leak II

The fix I am suggesting in my first post I have not tried yet, I used the wrong tense. I will be trying this in the spring as my boat is all wrapped up for the winter. Tony

Same mast leak

I've experienced the same 1/2 cup mast leak as Mike had -- also only after a hard rain. The dealer has suggested that the mast is filling with several inches of water because the "S" entrance for the cabling is never supposed to pass any water through. "The drain holes must be plugged", he concluded. Well, my 1996 boat with the Z-spar mast doesn't appear to have any drain holes at the base. Does anyone know where they should be located -- or, rather, where can they safely be drilled?
