Thank you, Ron Pearson, for your photo article on removing the holding tank on the 37-cutter. For the $40 rental fee of a saws-all from Home Depot and two hours of my Saturday, I removed my badly corroded tank without cutting out the shower stall. The project went exactly as you detailed in your photos. I only wish that I had completed this chore sooner. The lack of odor and new, fresh scent coupled with the relative ease and low expense of this project should make this a first priority with any 37-cutter owner that has not already remedied this problem. I can only imagine what a yard would have charged me. The quantity of sediment left in the tank earned the label "the most disgusting thing I have ever done," but the sense of triumph and subsequent victory beer erased the pain. Two hours plus forty bucks plus C.P. cleanup equals no more odor.

Hey Jason what replacement plans

are in the works? I'll need to replace the underseat tank sometime and I want to be a follower , not a leader. What did Ron do for a replacement?

Same holding tank question.

I had asked the same question to this post more than a week ago. Now I see that my query, "what did you replace it with?", is not here. Is there some problem with HOW? This has happened before. Did you see my replacement Scott? See the Related Link. I forget what Ron did with the holding tank. He's probably out there on the high seas making a delivery. Wait, now that I review my own pictures I think that Ron did the same thing. But somehow he was able to get that size or larger into the v-berth locker without cutting. I don't think I ever heard the details.

holding tank

Have just gone through the typical problem.. I used a cut-off saw to dismantle the old one in order to remove it, pulling it forward into the locker, piece by piece.I have flushed and vacuumed the bilge several times since and have almost got it clean.. I designed a new tank to go into the same space, in one piece, with a 2 inch radius bottom to the vee. Sure, the capacity is less than the original, but pump-out is still simple. I had it welded up from 1/8 aluminum complete with nozzles, and it slid into the old spot comfortably where I blocked it in securely. I could not give up any premium storage space in the vee-birth! Have even added full length shelves to both sides aswell as to the pilot berth.
