I have a 1981 37' Cutter that I purchased January of this year. Would like to know if anyone has installed a bow anchor roller on their 37' Cutter. I've seen one with a teak pulpit added for the anchor roller but don't really like the looks of it. HOW had an advertiser on the home page a few months ago that offered a stainless tube frame bow roller system but didn't get the name. Anyone have any suggestions? Charlie S/V Destiny

Check this out. I think it is what you were asking about. http://www.land2c.org/ Jim S/V Bioirlinn

Same issue.

I have a 35# CQR hanging on the original rollers. I have not yet drilled a hole in the shank for the pin because I also have been thinking about a larger roller. I am not in to major changes like bowsprits which require new pulpits and forestay mods($$$). I'll probably cut the flange off of one side and mount a larger roller against the center section. I've seen this done.

Great Idea

I've been considering basically the same modification. I had toyed with the idea of using a Windline BRM-3 (want to use a Bruce 33 as a main anchor) and removing the starboard roller and vertical support. Remove the base and weld the BRM-3 at all the contacting surfaces then replace the base and add additional thru deck bolts at the BRM-3 as needed. Sounds easy but I haven't commited to it yet.

Try the Windline BRM-4

If you look at it, you will see that it is a better roller than the BRM-3, since it has an upper roller that restrains both anchor and rode. It was designed specifically to fit the Bruce 33 and none other! BUT, if you remove the upper roller from its axle, and replace the axle in the roller, either a Bruce 33 or a 35 pound plow will fit perfectly. You will need to enlarge the hole on the head of the Bruce 33 to fit the new position of the restraining pin, but that is an easy job. Make sure you coat the bare metal in the hole, or it will rust right away. Use epoxy, or galvanizing spray, since re-galvanizing the whole anchor (!) will be pretty pricey. Look at the roller....you will probably like this arrangement. Good luck.
