My 1984 37C came with a 4 cylindar Yanmar. It is a very tight fit. Last summer I had to replace the starter. In order to do so, I had to cut an access door in the aft state room wall. Fortunately the starter just barely fit between the exhaust manifold and the fuel tank. Even though the fit is tight, everything else is fairly accessible. The extra power, in hearing other's experiences, does not provide any more speed (max 7.0 knots as measured by my GPS). But I have to believe that the extra power does drive through heavy weather better. I have a fixed 3 blade prop (15RH14). The only work I have done on the engine is had the torque on the head bolts checked (were OK) at about 600 hours. I am very, very happy with the engine.
