We are looking to buy our first boat over 30 ft. We like the 37 Bennies with a forward facing nav station and the freezer and fridge. Any one/

Which Benney 37 are you looking at? The most current model has an aft facing nav table.

Mike , The 2007 to 2002. We have been trying to access some info from 37 ft Oceanis owners but we would take some heads up views from people that are Beneteau boat owners.

Just general things such as handling, deep vs shallow draft. I saw one on Yachtworld in San Diego 6' plus draft, not much in the way of electronics, less to pull out for upgrades. We want to buy a boat and sail the Islands. All of them that are considered safe anyway. A boat that would cost $125,000 to $130,000 that would be comfortable for 2 retired water babies. Oh, the Caribbean as far south as is safe and back around the other side. No time schedule to keep but we do have our eye on that San Diego boat. We will be going out later this year to visit relatives and we plan to see that boat if it's still there.
Thanks , Dave

Dave, the model you're looking at would be the 373. It was the replacement for the 361 and is a very nice boat. Got to sail a new one on a two day trip a few years ago. Very predictable handling under both power and sail. Speeds of 7kts are not uncommon. It will point OK but prefers a beam reach. The main cabin is comfortable for two couples. The aft cabin is the bigger of the two and would likely be your first choice. The head has a separate shower that is the biggest you'll find in a boat of that size. There's a separate shower area which the wife will love. Overall all cabins have very good ventilation. The galley is a decent size as well. Draft is 5' if I'm not mistaken. Mast height is in the 50' range so between the two it will be a very ICW friendly boat. I wouldn't hesitate to do coastal cruising in it. It was a popular model so there should be a fair number on the market. Let me know if you have other questions.

He doesn't say if he's looking at the New Oceanis 37 or the old Oceanis 373?

Philip, we had a 361 and I think the 373 may have a slighlty larger shower area. One of the best features on the boat on a great boat.

GNWFast I have had my 373 for 5 years and love it. We sail in Galveston Bay with some coastal crusing. I'm a detail guy and have made quite few "improvements" over the years. Happy to answer you questions. General comment - love the way she sails and the interior space. I can go on and on. Since buying her we have added Kato davits, max prop, PSS shaft seal, sidepower bow thruster ( our tight marina has a constant crosswind), anchor windlass, balmor high output alternator and four bank agm battery bank. For the back berth the wife likes the Frioli plastic sping system under the foam cushions. Makes it more like an innerspring mattress. You may want to look for one of these 373's in the houston or gulf coast markets.
