Hi I have a 1991 37.5 new to me this past April. Can anyone tell me if they have added extra blocks to the bottom of the Selden mast on the base plate, if so how are they attached?
All my halyards, boom vang, mainsheet and continuous furler control lines are run through turning blocks (Lewmas with stand up springs to keep them off the deck in a vertical position) at the base of the mast step then back to the cockpit. If I had reefing lines (and I do not) they would also run through them and back to the cockpit. Each are attached to the mast step hole with a shackle and 2 large diameter clevis pins.
Thanks for the reply. Yes you are blessed with a mast base plate that has a number of connection points for turning blocks.
Mine is not shaped that way. Mine has holes in it but I think the mast needs to be lifted to access them from under the plate.
Hans, The chances are you have an Isomat mast and base, like I do. The turning blocks screw into a thin nut slipped in slots along the lower edge of the mast base. Check out this Rig Rite page:
