356 windlass parts??

I have a 2003 356 with a Simpson Lawrence Sprint Atlantic windlass according to my manual. I need a couple of small parts for it, the shaft seal and an oring. I have a small leak coming through to the v berth and have traced it to dripping down the shaft of the windlass not the bedding of the unit to the hull. According to my parts list there is a seal and oring that I feel must be the cause. Anyone had luck finding them or had a similar problem.

The seal is a bog standard nitrile rubber seal with a garter spring inside. It is imperial measure not metric so should be readily available in the US.
From memory it is 1½" OD and 1" ID x ⅜" thick but don't rely on this so measure.
I simply measured the size of the recess in which it sits and went to a bearing supplier and bought a replacement seal for pennies.
The original seal is a face type which is supposed to seal against the underside of the gypsy lower cone clutch but, due to end float in the shaft, it could never have made a watertight seal. This is made worse by the seal being in a hole in the windlass base casting which can fill with seawater whenever the windlass gets doused.
What I did was to fit a lip type seal which seals against the 1" diameter shaft. It should then have indefinite life.
If/when you need a new motor or set of brushes the motor is French made by Leroy Somer. They have distributors in most parts of the world.
The 'O' ring - you are on your own but just measure the thickness and diameter of the place where it fits and get another from the bearings supplier.
Whilst you have the windlass apart look in the gearbox for signs of water entry AND for oil loaded with brass shavings where the hardened steel worm has shaved considerable amounts of metal off the brass/bronze? worm wheel. You will need an EP80 or EP90 oil. (EP = extreme pressure as in a car rear axle)
