I am replacing all the faucets on my 356. The galley sink and head vanity are no problem but would like to know if anyone has replaced the shower bar assembly and shower faucet on a 356?

So far I cannot find a bar assembly the same size as the original. It looks like the bar is 22 inches long and the bar "holders" are 25 inches on center.

Also, any ideas where I can find a similar faucet?

I am still using the original hardware on my 356 shower. I have had to replace hose several times ...I just go to the local Walmart in kemah for replacement and keep a spare on board. Also got a second shower head holder placed lower next to head for more conveinants in flushing head with fresh water.
Shower head just needs a little cleaning from time to time...CLR. To relieve some strain on the valve knob by say someone overtighting the wrong way! Thank Sis!!! I installed cut off valve on the center tee in the shower. No more leaking issues. Can usually leave knobs preset and untouched.
You can remove shower bar and clean and paint or buy new similar one also.
BTW.... Very important keep an eye out for leaks around base of shower pan !!!!!!!!! Especially in the hidden areas under aft cabin and shower bulk head. Once any of the bulk heading get wet it will turn to much and heavy dangerous mold will grow and make you very sick. Also keep an eye on the balsa-wood type sub floor in the companion way area and in the aft cabin in front of were the water heater is mounted.

I replaced my hand held shower heads with a new Moen one that works great. I was able to get new soap trays from http://www.scandvik.com/index.cfm ,so you may be able to find the bar assembly to match yours. The diameter is different from what is normally found in the market. They were very good to work with.

I replaced all of my faucets except the shower components several years ago with single lever models. Has anybody found a single lever replacement for the shower? I waste a lot of water fumbling with both the hot and cold!!! Would like to pre-set temperatures like home models.

Also Onecoolair how did you do your shower set-up?

My problem in the shower is not functionality, it's appearance. The faucet and slide bar both look bad. They are pitted and no longer look good. I have tried to clean them but am still not pleased with their appearance.

Finding replacements that match up with the existing holes is the problem.

I just connected at the tee between the hot and cold were the shower hose connects a simple single leaver valve. I used a couple of small piece's of starboard to keep valve stable against the wall. I don't have a picture but maybe if make it to boat this weekend and if I can remember I will snap a picture.

My 40.5 has Grohe hardware. I purchased replacement valves through efaucets.com as I did for new hardware for the house. http://www.efaucets.com/
However, you may wish to check under the RV section of faucets.com to see if there is a better application for your boat if, for example, you have a two hole configuration. http://faucets.com/

I have looked fairly extensively, yet unsuccessfully, for a replacement unit. I ended up replacing the valves. Onecoolair's idea sounds good. I plan on pursuing it further. Note to Onecoolair: If you get some pics, they would be helpful in understanding what you did.

Onecoolair-that Idea sounds simple. A picture would be helpful.

Was down there yesterday.....Sorry I forgot..
All I did was just connect a "single levier idiot proof" small seacock type valve were you would otherwise connect shower hose ....Then secured it to wall to keep it from getting jerked around thus protecting the original plumbing hardware tee between knob valves.
Gripe.....First chance I get will be to replace all the defective knobs with idiot proof single levier controls....
BTW....Weather I am designing a commercial building or someones home I always spec for levier type hardware for all plumbing fixtures,Cabinet hardware,Door handles, etc...
