We have a Cat 36 and it has a 35lb CQR hook, 40 feet of chain and 300 ft of line. We've never had a problem but have only anchored in mellow conditions.

Bruce

April IV sports a 33lb Bruce on her roller, 40 feet of chain and 300' of line. We've never had trouble with the Bruce holding. From what I understand, no one anchor is right for all bottom conditions. In our area, sandy bottoms are virtually not found for example, and the Bruce might not be the first choice in that type of bottom. The message is that it's not the type or weight of boat that should guide the selection of your anchor type, but rather what type of anchor works best for the bottom conditions typically found in your cruising area. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

It all depends on the bottom and the places you anchor. It sure ain't the boat. Stu

Bruce

It depends on where you are anchoring and they type of bottom!!!!! We sail the Chesapeake Bay, mud mostly some sand. 35 lb Bruce with 20 feet of chain plus rode. Used the same anchor many years with good success. Ultimately, it is the type of bottom you have that should determine the type of anchor you use.
