The battery charger on my 1992 - 35.5 finally died. The location is deep, deep down in the rear starboard cockpit locker. While trying to get down to work on it I got stuck and had to have help getting out - not a pleasant experience. Has anyone relocated it? any suggestions? Does a cutout in the rear bulkhead from the aft cabin help? Any and all advice appreciated, Don

I changed the charger in our 35.5 last summer. I choose a Statpower TrueCharge 40+ Battery Charger from Broken Leg Dave. Funny name for a web site that sell discount boat electronic! The charger is located in the top portion of the starboard rear bench locker. Easy access and esay to monitor. Not in the sub basement where I have my batteries. A real pain to check water level! Good luck

Don. My factory charger was in the same place on a '94 35.5. I replaced mine with the TrueCharge 20 that seems to do a fine job. Cutout in rear bulkhead is the only way to access that space, I'd be surprised if you didn't have one already from replacing holding tank. Anyway, my cutout is approx. 13"x48", with double doors. Plenty of room to replace holding tank on port side and mount charger, diverter, access mascerator, other plumbing on starboard side. You could mount it up one level where your battery switch is, but I'm using all that space for batteries.

I have replaced and relocated my charger to the starboard cockpit locker and mounted my Truecharge 20 to the wall that seperates the head and the locker. Routeing the cables to the batteries is straight through the locker as well as installing the True Charge LED indicator pannel on the control pannel under the main AC/DC fuse pannel. I have also relocated all of my batteries out of the basement and up one level since there is sufficent room for 2 27's in the cockpit rear starboard locker, while still having access to the basement, and more room for 2 more 27's in the cockpit rear port locker, again, while still having access to the lower level. No more hanging upside down checking battery levels, nor reaching for or checking the switches on the charger.
