My 340 AC
I am just completing the installation of AC in my 340. I installed a 16K btu Mermaid unit with reverse cycle heat pump. I will finish hooking up the wires and hoses and expect to turn it on this weekend. Hunter has installed Marine Air 16 k units in previous 340 boats. My friend has one. My installation is Mermaid. I sure wish I had bought the boat with factory installed air as I have worked 3 long weekends cutting through bulkheads, installing ductwork, pump, water filter, hoses, condensate drain, electrical wiring, circuit breaker air supply and return grills, thermostat etc. Is it your dealer that claims the 16k unit will not fit or have you gotten this directly from Hunter? Mermaid of SW Florida have been great to work with. Great help on the phone answering all my questions. I can give you lots of advice if you plan to do it yourself. For example putting the hole in the hull for the outlet water took considerable thought and planning. I was going to put it up high next to the thru hull for the bilge pump. All the boats I looked at with air had the outlet near the waterline or 6 to 8 inches above it. This minimiozes the sound of splashing water falling from a height and also if you tie up to floating dock the outlet doesn't spray water all over the dock. Many things like this to think about. I probably should write a book. I have air ducted to 3 cabins but I did it different than the Hunters I looked at. The ducting and equipment take up valuable storage space but it will be nice in August when it is 98 and humid here in North Carolina. I put the link to Mermaids web site.
