34 Jib measurments

I am looking at some used jibs for my 34 but can only find the J foretriangle measurment of 14.0. Anyone know the luff lenght or roach measurments?

If this is your model (and mast height), it shows estimate forestay length of 45'. So consider jib sails with luffs length around 42'-44' depending on furling. You use the J measurement to size the sail. LP is the length from the clue to the luff at right angles. For example with J=LP , that would be a small 100% sail. Most cruisers with only a single sail on a furlers might choose a sail in the 120-140% region. Largest for racing would be about 155%. Roach does not come into play on most jibs - just mains.

Do you have roller furling? This will shorten the luff length. The Sailrite web site will have the measurements, you can go to the section where you quote a sail kit and see what they have for standard measurements. I find a 130% is the best all around sail for the 35. I use a 110% early and late in the season when the winds are usually higher. I also have a asymmetrical cruising chute for really light air.
