Grasp the rudder by the fore & aft and push and pull in all directions. If there is ANY play (sloppy of clunking) then it's time to change it.It like checking your cutless bearing - you look for play in the bearing area.
Hello,I have a '96 336 also and there is a little play in the rudder when tested as Paul suggests. If I want to replace the bearings: a. is this something I should be able to do myself? specials tools needed?b. are instructions available?c. and I should buy parts from Hunter-correct?thanks,BobPilgrim
