Just bought my first Hunter - a 1995 336. How many cans of VC17m bottom paint should I buy for this year's spring commissioning? Thanks in advance. Ned Strain sv/Family Therapy Chicago

Bottom Paint

I would suggest 4 qts. Depending on how you paint (spray or roll) 3 may do it, but would buy 4 just to be on the safe side. If you roll on, trying mixing the paint, then pour into a clean dishsoap bottle and use this to squeeze unto the roller as needed. This will help cut down on the amount of paint that evaporates into the air. Happy bottom painting.

2 gallons

I just used (rolled) two gallons of Micron CSC on my 336 bottom. One gallon will cover about 80 percent. The second gallon covers the rest and provides a thin second coat to catch the spots I missed. s/v windswept

4 to 6 quarts

I had a 336 till this year. If it already has been coated with VC17 once you should be able to get the job done with 4 to 6 quarts. It sort of depends on how neat you are. I have always rolled mine on some guys like to spray. Only pour into the pan what you can use in about 5 to ten minutes, this stuff evaporates very fast.
