The compression post on my 1995 336 is sinking into the floor slightly. It is enough to cause a slight depression on the top deck next to the mast step where a small puddle of water forms. I see from other posts that this may be common. I removed the flooring this week and I see that the compression post is setting on what appears to be two 5 inch by 7 inch stainless plates. These plates are held in place by 4 lag screws down into what appears to be a big mass of fiberglass just in front of the bilge area. I plan to adress this problem this winter but would like to discuss with someone who has already had and fixed this problem. I understand that there may be wood inside that fiberglass mass and I will need to cut that out and replace with something that won't rot. I am concerned about just taking a sawzall to that mass. How much do I have to take out to get the wood out? Could I just add a couple of Stainless steel plates to the current plates to make up for the sagging. I cant see anything rotten just by looking at what is visualy inspectable of the mass.
