33 mast modification

I'm new to sailing, and my boat, a '93 33.5. The standing rigging is original and upon the advice of more knowledgable people am going to replace it. We have some concern about the castings that the spreaders are attached to. I've contacted Z Spars and they advise the casting are no longer available. They suggest that "with some modification" thru mast spreaders could be installed. That's not something that excites me. While we may very well be able to free up the spreaders, I was simply trying to think ahead in the event of a problem.

Wondering if anyone here has done the modification(s) that Z Spars suggested?

You can purchase the standing rigging from Seco South. I would take the mast down and have someone inspect the spreader mounts. I really cannot imagine that there is anything wrong with them.

If they need to be replaced you may want to contact these guys.

Thanks for the link. I wouldn't think there should be any issues, but when the boat was decommissioned for transport one of the spreader ends cracked in spite of much application of heat/"buster".
