How much mast pre-bend should be on a 33.5? I have a 1993 model and the bend looks to be about 6-8". Is this normal? Thanks, Roc

don't get bent . . .

I have a 1988 33.5 and I have at least 6-8" of pre-bend. I've never actually measured it, but I can see it from looking up from the base of the mast. I don't know what the factory spec is for the rig. It might be in the manual, I'll try to remember to look it up this weekend.

Bend o ramma

We have an 88 33.5 like Steve. Ours has 6-8 inches prebend as well. It always concerned us up until about a month ago. We decided to have the mast professionally tuned. Hunter Marine in FL gave me a name of a company that is the best in the Puget sound area. Their yard manager drove to our boat and tuned it. He said he likes that amount of prebend and tightened the stays and shrouds appropriately without taking out any of the pre-bend. So you know...Hunter recommends about 3" of prebend. However, the people that know the tricks of the trade like more. You can tell how much you have by where your main halyard hangs on a calm day.
