33.5 lower rudder bearing

I recently pulled out our rudder to send to fossfoam for rebuilding only to find the stainless post (that is hidden by the lower bearing) was badly scratched, oxidized and pitted. The pitting is my biggest fear because it is most likely the victim of galvanic currosion and you never know how deep that might go into the metal. We are buying a new rudder instead. I was thinking it would be a good time to replace that lower bearing but I have not seen it yet as we removed the rudder with boat still in the water. Hunter tells me it is Delron, resined into place and that they no longer have them to sell (in other words we need to get one machined). Anybody ever remove and replace one of them? Big deal or not? Thanks. Doug
