I'm considering the purchase of a 323 without engine or transmission. The engine is no problem, but I've been unable to find any information on the transmission/V drive. If anyone can provide me with the manufacturer, and a serial #, I can go from there. My main concern is the down angle, which will have to remain pretty much the same to have the engine sit more or less level. I own a marine repair business; installation is not an issue. Thanks,
Herb

Walter V-Drive

Herb, I don't know if all 323s had the same transmission but mine, hull 163, has a "Walter Direct Mounted V-Drive." It's model RV-100. At the time the boat was built (1978) Walter Machine Co. was located in Jersey City, N.J.

I have an instalation manual with accurate drawings and can get the exact angle for you in you need. However, my protractor is in the shop, I'm at home, and I'm leaving for three days tomorrow AM so it will be Thursday before I can do it. (I may be home Tuesday evening; not sure of that.) I bought the boat in '02 and the PO said he had exchanged the trans for a rebuilt from the factory so I assume Walters was still viable at the time.

I've completely gutted my boat and rewired, replumbed, and put in new ports. If you have other questions about the insides let me know and I may have pictures that will help.

Let me know if you need more info. I may not answer until Thursday.

Geoff
