Needing the size of the cockpit speakers In B323. Forgot to measure them before leaving the boat. Thanks.

In addition, these speakers seemed to be glued in place...in addition to the 4 screws. Anyone have experience removing them? Thanks.

Just measured them. The speakers are 4 inch diameter, overall ring diameter is 5 inches. 4 screws, and probably caulking, not glue around the perimeter. Try separating the ring from the cockpit wall using a piece of monofilament fishing line to "saw" through the caulk carefully.

Hope this helps you.

Please let me know what replacement speakers you use and your experience with removal & replacement. I have a 343 that also need the cockpit speakers replaced. Thanks.

This project planned for next weekend...will repost when done...and advise of speakers used and the results. I'm sure others have done this on similar boats...would be nice to get their input too.

We put in Fusion MS-FR4021 Marine 2-Way Full Range Speakers, 120W, Pair last year in our Beneteau 321. 4" speakers and they fit perfectly with no cutting needed. Got from Amazon (currently $68 per pair).
These have hard plastic covers and look much more durable than the originals ones put in in 2000.
Very happy with the sound as well.

Thanks cymeyer. How did the process go for removing the originals? They appear to be not only screwed in but also have silicone or some form of adhesive applied.

Very easy to remove. I used putty knife to gently pry the old speakers off the gelcoat. Once you break the seal, they come off very easily. Just do it carefully and it will be fine. can also use a very thin knife but you have to be careful not to cut into the gelcoat. I would say replacing both speakers took less than one hour.

Speakers Installed

Update - As previously suggested, use a thin flexible blade knife and carefully loosed the silicone grip...and eventually it will start to break free and pull loose. There was substantial amount of silicone. Once speaker is out, thoroughly clean all silicone from gelcoat. I installed Polk DB-401 speakers. Any speaker that requires a 4" cutout will work. These fit perfectly with no modification required. I did use a marine grade clear silicone (home depot) on back of speaker frame when reinstalling, and then also a again around the edge of the grill. These speakers sound amazing. They are 'marine rated' by Polk...for whatever that's worth. Lifespan TBD. These cost around $60 off ebay. Highly recommend them. While this installation did not really require a lot of pics...I took a lot and have added them here...cause everybody likes to see pictures... Good luck with your installation.
