I have someone going up the mast to hang the Parade of Lights display soon. He will change the anchor light for me. What kind of bulb have you 323 owners found in the anchor light? And, what LED have you used?

Ron, if I remember correctly, my anchor light was a Hella and used a festoon type bulb. The problem I had was that the spare provided in the parts kit that came with the boat did not contain one that for the fixture. The strange thing about the boat is that there is no commonality in the fixture brands used .there are at least three different ones between the running lights, the steaming light, and the anchor light.

Another fun thing I discovered whenI went to change the anchor light bulb was that the fixture was pop riveted to the mast and to change that bulb, the rivets had to be drilled out to remove the fixture because the access to the bulb was from the back of the fixture.

Yeah, I know there were a number of possibilities, starting back with the 323 steamin fixtures. Was that a dimpled- or pointed- festoon anchor bulb. The chandlery has no problem selling me all option, then bring back what I don't use. The guy that went up the mast last week said he couldn't reach the anchor light/mast top, so he used a stick to push the webbing harness over the top. After the parade is done, I'm going to have to leave him hoisted up the mast until he opens it, I go get the bulb, and come back:)

I once found an anchor-brand dimpled festoon 6-LED for the helm cockpit light, that I could make work. It was supposed to be good for 1000's of hours. It didn't last one season. Now, i can't even find a dimpled one, so back to the original bulb for now.

I know this is too much for your volunteer up the mast to do, but you might want to consider putting in a complete LED anchor light fixture at some point and avoid the whole business of worrying about your bulb. I've been very happy with Hella's NaviLED anchor light, which costs around $110, is CG approved, and uses less than 1/5 the power of an incandescent.

My 2006 B323, hull 136, Has yet another type anchor bulb. It is a single-contact Italian OSRAM/Sylvania 5008. T6, .83 amp, 10 watt, EIKO 4-663, 15 mm base, it it is a "BA15S" base. 1.44"long, 125 lumens, same(supposedly) as a 1141 or a 1156 bulb. Lamp(glass) shape B6, which is almost round. .....

After going to West and Fawcetts, Fawcetts had the Hella light, which had the exact same bulb. The search for an LED that will fit continues.
