No answers until we know what you did with the last one. If you can't take care of your things don't expect us to just find new ones for you. ;) ;) ;)

Unless someone is parting a 322 out you will have to get it custom made. Probably 8k to 10k - or more.

This company makes keels and have a worldwide reputation for excellence.

Not a lot of keels just hanging around looking to be bought.

All keels are unique - custom cast for an individual model. And as Higgs said, most are in use.:)

I guess I should of explained a little more. Looking at buying this boat. It's sitting in storage in Mexico. Had a look at it. No hull damage but missing the keel. Sitting at auto dealers lot. was taken in on trade. Unknown where keel ended up. Price seems okay. Motor is very clean looking and interior seems fine, just needs a good cleaning. Thought I'd first check out in keel availability and costs.

I wouldn't take that wreck if it came with a gold plated cadillac for free.

This model was known for dropping it's keel. Happened to someone in my club. I'm sure there's a thread in this forum somewhere @ some time.

You keep saying you can fix anything..... people here keep telling you to forget it... Here's my 2 cents: since you're so compelled to get involved in this project, find someone who KNOWS to give you an estimate for fixing the keel. Like a boatyard owner or manager. Get a quote for labor. storage and the cost of the replacement keel. Then.. you might be able to make an intelligent decision.

I'm in need of a keel for the ODAY 322. Anyone happen to know where I might locate one.
The only guy I know who can give you a definite answer is Rudy Nickerson of D&R Marine. http://www.drmarine.com/ Rudy worked for O'Day years back and when they went out of business in Fall River Ma., Rudy bought all the stock plus all the boat molds.
I'm pretty sure that boat had the wing keel. I remember going aboard one at the Boston Boat Shows. One of the salesman for Gauch Bros. Marine whom I purchased my O'Day 222 from in 1986, owned the O'Day 322 and he loved that boat.
The O'Day 272 and the 240 had wing keels. Who really knows how or why the keel broke off? The guy might have hit a rock for all you know.

I know that Rudy had a guy in Bristol RI named Joe Deponte (Lima Boats Mfg.) build some O'Days for him back in the 1990s like the Widgions, Weekenders (O'Day 192) and also the O'Day 240 which had the wing keel so he'd be the go to guy on that. You might try posting this thread on the Odayowners.com forum for a more concise response.

I know where you can find one...at the bottom of the ocean wherever that boat last sailed. You need to rebuild the keel stub...it's not supposed to have two gaping holes in it...then find a keel. Shipping a Mars keel from Canada to PVR plus the cost would be prohibitive.

If you are handy (and desperate to try something) you could cast one out of concrete. Build a mold, put some scrap metal in it for increased weight, and stick some keel bolts in the top and viola! In Mexico you likely have some skilled masons around to take advantage of. Do yourself a favor and skip the wings. Just build a fin keel and keep it simple. You will need it to be much thicker in profile as concrete weighs much less than lead. To get an idea of the profile, glue a bunch of styrofoam blocks together and then shape it with a bread knife and one of those bondo graters.

Hey! I am not crazy...I even found a site on how to do it.

Holy ^%#$&^% That is the same boat as the one Maine took the picture of !!! Look at the holes and the remnants of the bonding/bedding material on the left side of the hole.. The shape of that fracture line is the same !! There is a little distortion because of the camera angle, but that keel attachment failure looks identical.. How did it get to Mexico from Portland?

I don't know if the O'day had a lead keel or not. I am guessing that they did. This may be the reason that it is missing. Scrap lead was selliung for about 50cents a pound no too long ago.

I seriously doubt you could get a keel cast for the value of this boat.

OMG that boat is not just missing a keel! It was ripped off! the 322's had a lead wing keel that was 52" wide. There's one in my YC the owner takes care of it.
