just aquired a 322 that has a furler i am trying to identify. it has a round section approx 7/8 to 1" diameter and is one peice about 38 feet long. It is solid so a headstay could not go through it. it has a swivel on the top with a spring loaded catch to hold the hoisted sail. the bottom of the extrusion is joined to an aluminum part approx 2.5 dia that is threaded into a bearing housing inside the rope drum. it has a solid turnbuckle and a toggle on the bottom. I can find no one with any idea what it is and do not see any names or numbers anywhere. this is a real PUZZLEMENT! THANKS LARRY

Bet it's an Isofurl System

Larry: Bet you have a Isofurl furler -- this furler system was made by Isomat (do you have an Isomat mast?) and I understand it was shipped with the mast as sort of a system. I have an 88 O'Day 302 and have just such a system. The spring loaded clip (technically, a Halyard Hoist Locking Car!) just broke on my system so I'm working on buying a new one. Go to this website to learn more: www.RigRite.com. These guys are the only folks I can find who seem to have parts for these systems -- which are no longer made. This website offers some pretty good info regarding how to rig the system. By the way, I have a recurring problem with my system -- the line binds on the spool unless we unfurl the genoa VERY slowly and keep strong tension on the roller furler line. Do you have this problem? (Or does any other reader have this problem?) Is there a better way to fix this rather than going slow and applying tension on the furler line? Good luck.
