I've noticed the range of PHRF ratings I can find for the Catalina 320 (151 to 160's)indicate it is slower, therefore gets a time allowance from Catalina 34's and 36's which makes sense. But the Portsmouth rating system shows the 320 giving time to both the 34 and 36! Anyone have an opinion on why this is? Thanks, Jim

Portsmouth?

You would have to find out how many C320's are sailing under each system. A couple of very good sailors that sail under Portsmouth could give the C320 a low number. I'll wager that there are many more C320's sailing under PHRF and the rating of 20 sec/mile slower than the bigger boats and 20 sec/mile faster than the C30 is about right. I just don't see a 320 being 4 minutes per hour faster than a C34, PHRF's ToT Scoring puts it about a minute per hour slower.
