Can any of the 320 owners tell me where the Fridge compressor is? I have a 1995 320 with the Adler Barbour fridge and I have to replace the Evaporator.I looked around and havent seen it.Before I have to tear the boat apart,I thought perhaps someone could tell me.
Thanks
PS also,if someone has replaced their evaporator and knows any tricks or things to look for let me know/

The evaporator is connected to the compressor. With pipes. Why not follow the pipes? On our C34s, the compressors had been located in at least three different places over the years.

As far as replacement, make sure you're using the same refrigerant or it won't work. You'll also probably have to replace the pipes, because the connectors are at the compressor end.

Yes STu

The way the fridge is set up from a cursory look run out the right side of the fridge by the stove and thats the last place I can see.I guess I will have to take some panels off to find it
And yes,I am replacing the line as well. Since I punched a hole in the evaporator,I dont think there is any freon left.
Thanks for the reply.

Good luck, sounds like you're on the right track. Let me guess: defrosting? It's soooo much easier to simply let it melt. Costs less, too...

Would you believe that I have no stories to tell about defrosting with a 12" chef's knife?

Update

I found the compressor in the port rear locker on a platform.
Then I discovered that replacing the evaporator alone in my 1995 320 would not be the end since back then the copper evaporator lines were directly soldered to the compressor. So it went from a $300 fix to a 1200 fix. Thanks to the replies..........
