311 Swing Keel

We moved to a house that is on shallow water and had to sell our boat. I think a 311 swing keel would be perfect for us. I have two questions for owners How do they sail? and the used ones we have seen seem over priced does anyone know what the extra cost was over the standard keel.

Hi

In the Uk the difference was about £1500 but you can always get out of trouble :D We sail on the East Coast Uk so we have drying sand banks in the MIDDLE of the Thames Estuary :eek:

So a lifting keel can be an advantage in 6ft of water especially if its in the UP position ;)

You can sail with the keel up but you do not point very well. Ok off wind as it makes the boat go faster but it depends how brave you feel.

Boot feels a bit lively after sailing a fixed keel and they do tend to lean first and then come upright.

On the 2007 323 Beneteau I believe the cost was 5 thousand and with the keel package the boat comes with twin Rudders
