310 PHRF
Our 310 was given a base rating of 172 in PHRFNW , a relatively lighter wind area. Our rating code is 3C35. The first digit is the headsail adjustment, 2nd is the non-spinnaker allowance, third is the mainsail adjustment, and 5th is for propulsion. A code of 5 indicates the class standard, no adjustment. Lower numbers are an allowance for slower features (undersized sails?) Higher numbers are a penalty. Adjustment increments are usually 3 seconds. So we have 6 seconds added for our 135% genoa, 21 seconds for no flying sail, 6 seconds for an undersized mainsail(?), and no adjustment for our folding or feathering prop. So our "as sailed" rating is 205.I find the PHRF ratings interesting in comparing relative boat speeds. I probably wouldn't consider buying a boat without checking this first. Interesting comparing the C320 and C30's with the C310 also.In my experience, I think I got screwed a little on our rating because I haven't been able to beat the C30's very often with their 150% genoas and slower ratings. One of the C30's does pretty well around here with a 150% genny + a spinnaker, and he only rates 4 sec per mile faster than us! Good luck! Then again, our boat is apparently not a very standard configuration and not east to rate, even though it has the original factory sails. Also it's the first boat rated in this area. Different PHRF regions do rate some boats a little differently,I'm including a link to the PHRFNW roster. You can download the Excel version and do a data sort to easily find specific boats.http://www.phrf-nw.org/publications.htm
