310 companionway dimensions

Any chance a fellow 310 owner can measure the companionway?

I am either going to make abug screen and just by one pre-made but I am not near my boat to take measurements. Below are my choices:
  • 78" long x 42" wide (rectangle)
  • 72" long x 36" wide (rectangle)
  • 68" long x 48" wide (tapering to 28" wide at bottom)
  • 68" long x 60" wide (tapering to 28" wide at bottom)
  • 77" long x 40" wide (tapering to 28" wide at bottom)
  • 44" long x 38" wide (tapering to 29" wide at bottom)
thanks for the help. Planning the first overnight with my wife and daughter for next weekend and my daughter gets eatin' alive by buggies. I want them to have a first good experience so they will want to do it more ;).

It just so happens that I have my hatchboards home to cetol them. Here is the measurements: the total length from top to bottom-centerline- is 28". At the top-widest point-it is 31" across and at the bottom it is 19" across.
Hope that helps. BTW, FWIW I have heard of guys go to a fabric store or walmart and buy a stroller bug screen. I cannot say if that will work or not but its an idea.

The top part of the companionway measures 31" x 31" with the hatch open.

Let me throw out a simple bug screen idea that I useed a few years ago. I bought some screenig material (actually a screen kit from West Marine) and cut out a piece of the screening the same size and shape as the hatch boards - put hatch dboards on top of screen, marked and cut. I then bought a small amout of Sunbrella fabric and glued it to the edges of the screen and then glued the top and bottom edges to 1X3 pine boards that fit in the top and bottom hatch board tracks. The acreen rolls up for storage and is easy to put in and take out. As Paul J says "no good without a picture" so I'll take one this weekend (hopefully) and post next week on this thread.
