Thank you so much Joe I own a Diner in va beach (Jenros Diner) if you are ever in town I'll treat you to lunch. I've got to make a decision on buying this boat or not. It's. A lot of work but I like doing it to know the vessel a lot better.
They want 900 for it. I'm guessing I'll put 4000 in it + I need sails.
Have you ever heard of buying a boat without a title ? As a ocean going yacht just being registered with the coast Gaurd ? Or you think this is a scam ? I never really got a so called title for my jet ski but a sailboat ? Once again thanks for your help mike

I think I recognize that boat! I just moved to NM from Suffolk Va. That 30 is at Nautical Boats in Portsmouth, is it not? I think it is the one that got smashed up on the jetty of the bay bridge last year. My parents keep their boat up in Hayes, and someone had just bought the boat and it was the next dock over from them. The were going to sail it north, and took off on their maiden voyage trying to go outside instead of just up the bay. The winds and tides didn't agree and they lost her at night trying to get out into the ocean. Very sad story, fortunately I think they were okay.

Is that an enormous patch on the side? Have you been in the boat? How much damage in there?
I think I'd keep looking. There are good deals to be had in your winter months and craigslist can be your friend http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/3516737962.html
It's not an O'day 30 but I'd say a much better deal than you're looking at. Here's a nice Cal 29 http://norfolk.craigslist.org/boa/3494406658.html
It's up to you, but I'd look around a bit. There are a lot of boats out there.
Good hunting.

Edit: I just saw Mark's post and the rubbing fiberglass against a jetty (generally made up of huge rocks) would explain the huge patch.
