mast raising
My Mac26X has a mast raising system and it works as follows:a "gin pole" is bolted at the base of where the mast goes, and stands straight up,just in front of the mast, (for raising the mast). At the top end of the pole, is an eyelet on each side.(fore, and aft)On fore eyelet a set of blocks (unknown ratio)is attatched, and then attatched to a strap on the deck forward about 5 feet. The line from this tackle is led back to the sheet winch. Now,the jib halyard is secured to the other eyelet(aft on the pole) and runs to the top of mast (which is horizontal at this point),then down to it's cleat on the mast where it is secured well.To raise the mast, the winch is cranked, pulling the mast up as the gin pole is pulled down to the foredeck by the tackle arrangement.Hope this is clear enough,it's not really hard, and not much force is required due to the tackle deal. The steps are reversed to lower the mast.
