Does anyone happen to know a place that would have this T Fuse in stock. I've tried several places including WM and they are all on back order with no lead time. I kind of want my bilge pump to be operational.
Thank you in advance,
Robin

Why would you need a 300 amp fuse for a bilge pump? My guess is that is the fuse you are using on your battery to feed your system. If that is the case, put in a smaller fuse as available and still add a fuse sized for the bilge pump as well (probably 3- 6 amps). Remember the fuse is there to protect the wiring. If your loads are lower, then a smaller fuse (still above nuisance trip levels) is all you need.

A 225A fuse is available in SBO Stores.
Blue Sea Systems Class T Fuses

300Amp are on back order too.

For that 225A fuse to POP, it would take a direct short on your DC system

Jim...

PS: His bilge pump, like mine is on the Start Battery. So normally the 300A is on the House Batteries.

It is for the house batteries. Without it my system goes crazy when I operate anything on the boat. That includes my start battery.

Did you check Amazon…I don’t know what a T fuse looks like, but this popped up when I searched for it…

I did look on Amazon. The one you posted is 125v. The ones I saw were on back order. Grainger might have some, $180. At WM they were $45 with a procard.
My bilge pump is hooked up to the house batteries. I moved the fuse from the inverter to the house and it's working. I'll be ok, until I leave the dock.

I only have a 80 amp breaker on the winless that has 4 gauge wire that takes a lot more load than a bilge pump. Look at your wire size you mite be using 10 gauge and at 300 amp it would melt before the fuse blows.

Boat owners who don't understand electricity should consult a qualified electrician, not ask questions here. A 300 A fuse is protecting seriously large wiring, like your main battery cables, not a bilge pump. A bad wiring fire can burn your boat to the waterline.

The 300A is not just for the bilge pump, it is for the house battery that the bilge pump is in circuit with. With the fuse blown, the bilge pump won't work. Electricians and mechanics are backed up for 4 weeks or longer. I'm just trying to replace what was in there, it seems to be original from 2005.

Just asking an obvious question here. Did your previous 300 amp fuse blow? Why do you need a new fuse? You said you are trying to "replace what was there." That would seem to imply you had the same 300 amp fuse previously. Maybe you are just changing it's location? In general, a 300 amp fuse, even from 2005 shouldn't just blow because of age. If the fuse blew, hopefully you have first determined why it blew before you go replacing it.

This has me confused? I am not familiar witht he 41DS but if you moved a large DC fuse from the inverter DC input to the output on the Battery to replace the battery 300 amp fuse and still don't know why the 300 amp fuse blew you are in dangerous territory if you don't know why the 300 amp fuse blew in the first place? I wouldn't, in my wildest dreams, replace this fuse until I knew for sure why it blew. I may be overreacting to your post but based on the info you have provided :cowbell:"Danger Will Robinson, Danger Will Robinson." (From Lost is Space TV series) A direct short from a battery to metal can weld a wrench to a fender (ask me how I know! :yikes:)

So the bilge pump ISN'T protected by a small fuze ? It is only protected by the main fuse for the battery bank ?

That is not good.

Fuses should be sized for the smallest wire in a specific circuit. Otherwise it won't blow when needed and you end up with melted wires and a fire.

I would get a friend or pro who truly knows marine electrical, come and take a quick look at your complete electrical setup.

If the boat is old enough, there has likely been multiple owners, most of which probably had no clue about wiring.

I just bought a different boat 2 years ago, and the wiring was a serious fire hazard.

I would not assume that replacing the fuse with one of the same rating, was a good idea. The person who installed it last may have been clueless.

As a start, I would find the owners manual and see what the manufacturer used and why.

At the very least get a book on marine wiring and read it from front to back.

He can download The Hunter 41 manual here.

Per that manual 300A fuse is on the House Batteries cables. [like mine too]

Simple check for 300Amp fuse with a DVM.

Since I have 2 of these fuses, different manufacturers, there was a problem at some point in history. For the last 2 years I have not had a problem like this. I agree I do want an electrical survey done, a blown fuse of this size is a real concern. This occurred after I had my motor mounts changed. I am guessing that a slip of a wrench across the starter connections caused it, but I am not sure since I was not onboard when the mounts were changed. As a precaution I am pulling the starter out to have it tested before I turn the key. I do appreciate the questions and sincere advice.
