I have an older H30 and just started racing her this year. After some early success in the spring with breezy conditions I am being manhandled by the lighter boats as the summer rolls along and the winds diminish. I plan on replacing my 130 with either a 150/155. Any other general suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Joe M.

Look at your mail too.

Joe: Find a sailmaker to look at your mainsail while it is on the boat. There are several things that they can do when making a new sail. Full battens, larger roach, loose footed etc etc. A good sail for your boat is probably going to run about $1600-2400 but it may be what is required to keep up with the pack.

Main Sail

Thanks for the mainsail info but I should have mentioned that I just got a new main with all the goodies -loose foot, full battens This improved the performance quite a bit, thats why I'm concentrating on the headsail and anything else that might help. By the way Atlantic Sailmakers makes an excellent sail for a lot less then the big boys.

Feather Prop

And if you are really serious about doing better in light winds, a feathering prop will do wonders.
