30 amp to 50 amp upgrade

I want to upgrade our shore power system from 30 amp to 50 amp.
This is what I think is required new 6 gage cable 50 amp plug and new main breaker.
I also wanted to move the plug to the anchor locker since I am running new wiring.
The boat is a 1987 Hunter 40 legend.

Have you considered the need to upgrade the wiring inside the boat, too?

It is not just "to" the breaker but also from the breaker to the HOT & NEUTRAL load bus as well as the GROUNDING bus... Just be sure your load buses can handle 50A service. Many are made of wire jumpers or 30A rated busbars... You will need 50A+ rated buses as well.... Also if you have an isolation transformer or galvanic isolator they will also need to be changed to 50A models...
